Ahluwalia: Ready-To-Wear SS25 – HBRPEDIA

Home is where the heart is seemed to be the mantra behind Priya Ahluwalia’s SS25 collection. Titled ‘Home Sweet Home,’ the show paid homage to immigrants and the call of their ancestral homes – importantly apt, following the spate of racist riots that erupted around the UK over the summer.

Making herself at home at Church House in Westminster, the Indian-Nigerian designer transformed the space with cosy vintage rugs, while a beaded curtain referenced a traditional Indian and Nigerian kitchen. The clothes too were comfortingly nostalgic, draped and folded satin dresses and gowns referenced Peruvian artist Jorge Eielson’s oeuvre, while delicate doilies stitched together into tops brought a sense of domesticity. Elsewhere, retro 70s prints popped up on silk shirts and sporty polos while beaded accoutrements which were also transformed into fabulous wigs – swished on knitwear and dresses.

Ahluwalia is right at home on the London Fashion Week schedule and we couldn’t be happier.
