Ever wondered which of Manolo Blahnik’s extensive shoe collection is his favourite? Wonder no more, thanks to ‘A Splendid Blahnik’ – a collectors series featuring the designer’s favourite styles each season.
For Autumn 24, enter: Medara – Manolo’s must-have. Plucked from the collector’s edition, Medara features a black (or blue) satin bootie with an ornate horseshoe embellishment. The shoe’s sophisticated silhouette and baguette crystal accessory indulge in the glamorous court of the first French empire – drawing inspiration from cinematic depictions of empress Joséphine, the wife of Napoleon Bonapart, whose sumptuous and daring style made her a ruler of European fashion. While embracing historical style, the designer uses an understated, sculptural kitten heel to modernise the bootie.
Medara is the second edit in the series, following on from the Sene, which launched in May 2024. Each item in the collection is paired with a chic embroidered dust bag featuring the brand’s logo and a limited-edition intricate sketch drawn by the designer himself.
Launching on September 11, the collectors edit is exclusive to Manolo Blahnik retail and e-commerce stores.
